Dr. Tanghetti just arrived back from the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery meeting in Florida. Dr. Dieter Manstein gave a key note address where he highlighted the next new direction in laser surgery. He described the possibility of delivering laser light through small holes in the epidermis. Dr. Tanghetti and the scientist at Cynosure have been working over the last 4 years on this concept. A complicated study was completed using an Erbium laser followed by 1320 nm light for photo-rejuvenation, acne scars, and cellulite. The results revealed modest improvement, but validated the concept that light could be delivered through these small channels in the skin called sacrificial conduits.* Currently, our office is working on new directions for this concept and project.
